Open Studios - Textiles and Social Activism: From the Eureka Flag to #MeToo

  • Eureka Centre 102 Stawell Street South Eureka (map)

Ballarat is home to one of Australia’s most important textile objects - The Eureka Flag, with its extraordinarily contested history that speaks to the power of textiles as a tool for protest and social action. This event features internationally recognised artist, Kate Just, who will introduce her practice and discuss how artists have deployed textiles to comment on social inequity and injustice, including from a feminist perspective. Kate will then chair a panel discussion with artists from our region who share in common a socially-engaged textile art practice.

Free event. Booking required.
