Punch Needle Workshop Ballarat

  • Camp Street Ballarat (map)

Come learn the craft everyone is talking about. Be warned you will be easily 'hooked'.  Punch needle embroidery is very easy to learn, you can use scrap yarn or rug hooking yarn and once you have the skills and materials the project are endless.  You can make stunning home decor including cushion covers, wall hangings, coasters, handbags, plant holders rugs and floor coverings and more.

No electronics or devices are required, it can be done easily by most people of all abilities and is a great craft even for those with reduced eyesight or hand movement, including children ( not toddlers ).  It's so quick, it's not tedius or time consuming, you can complete projects easily, pull out any work punched in error and use up your yarn stash.  No counting, no knotting and no special finishing. It's a great way to socialise, create gifts, home decor and share your new found passion.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • The history of the craft, tools, foundation cloth and yarns, frames

  • Examples of various suitable materials and finished items

  • How to transfer a design onto your cloth

  • How to stretch a hoop and other methods and all about stitch placement and pattern

  • Threading the needles, using the needles and punching techniques

  • Finishing off work and presenting the project
