Applications are now open for the City of Ballarat’s Arts and Culture Advisory Committee. The purpose of the City of Ballarat’s Arts & Cultural Advisory Committee is to provide information, advice and recommendation to Council.
This is in specific relation to the development, implementation and review of Council strategies, policies, plans and initiatives that strengthen arts, culture, public art, creative industries and participation in culture. The Committee will meet quarterly to review and provide advice about the wide range of creative, arts and cultural services provided by the City of Ballarat.
Expressions of Interest are now being sought for membership of the Advisory Committee. This Committee acts as a communicative forum between the City of Ballarat officers and members appointed to the group. If you are interested in being considered, please complete the Expression of Interest Form.
We are actively seeking people with a wide range of skills and knowledge, and who can speak on behalf of an equally wide range of communities.
This is not a paid role. It is a community role, and a unique opportunity to provide advice and guidance on your specific understanding of the creative and cultural industries.

Training offered by the City of Ballarat is considered part of the programs.
Members should live, work and/or study in the City of Ballarat. However membership will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Consideration will be given to relevant skills and experience and ability to attend meetings.
This Advisory Committee is seeking knowledge, enthusiasm and energy for the City of Ballarat’s creative and cultural future.
Members will operate within the Terms of Reference for the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee and will be subject to the City of Ballarat’s Privacy Policy.
The Committee will consist of:
Two Councillors, one of whom is nominated by Council as a Chairperson.
Up to 10 community representatives who are community / industry member spanning public art /urban design, performing arts/music/festivals, visual arts/collections/heritage, First Nations practice (reserved seat), access & inclusion
Up to 2 organisation representatives (regional arts bodies/tertiary).
Appointments will reflect diversity of age, culture, gender and lived experience.
This Expression of Interest is open until midnight 11 June 2026. Follow the instructions in the Expression of Interest form and ensure you meet all of the criteria.
This Committee is open to creative practitioners and individuals, not-for-profits, incorporated associations, local creative businesses and industry as well as relevant representative agencies and bodies. Make sure you tell us about your experience, your connection to community and industry and your perceptions and priorities.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of City of Ballarat officers, and then recommendations on the make-up of the panel - considering age, gender, demographic backgrounds, education, connection to community, skills and experience - will be made to a full sitting of Council. Candidates will be expected to attend meetings quarterly
