Free Event. Visitors are invited to attend an open studio day at the working studio of Ballarat based sculptor and stone carver Tas Wansbrough. Tas’ studio will be open for the public to experience how contemporary stone carving is practiced in a real working environment. Guests will be able to walk through the outdoor carving yard where large stone blocks and sculptures in progress are actively being worked on. Visitors will see traditional hand carving tools alongside modern equipment used to shape and finish stone.

Ticketed Event. The Jacquard Loom Network is hosting an In Conversation event on the practices of repair, maintenance, and community. The speakers — key members of the Jacquard Network — will discuss what it means to maintain 18th century logic and 20-year-old circuitry as an act of collective care: reconnecting people to production, cultivating respect for materials, and building a resilient knowledge network in the face of generational and industry contraction. PERFORMANCE: Pick Me Up by Claire McArdle

Free event. Claire performs making jewellery in the alleyways around the Mining Exchange. Neckpieces will be impressed with a pattern through a device built into her shoe. The act of walking will form the neckpieces. Each neckpiece will be placed into an envelope with Pick Me Up written on the front. The Pick Me Ups will be wedged into available spaces in the laneways, awaiting a curious person to find them and take them home.
