Yaramlok
Cardigan Weather is the solo project of musician/producer Jackson Cass. Sharpening his production chops with his band Esoteric (guitarist/producer) before honing his craft and performing live with deranged techno-cowboys Confetti Western. This project takes a more subtle and introspective path in its production and song writing.
Jackson creates a unique sonic pallet by using field recordings and unorthodox sampling techniques to create emotive ambient layers that surround psychedelic tinged musical and lyrical ideas around themes of friendships, relationships, life and where we fit into all of it.
‘Yaramlok’ came together through his professional work in conservation. He conducted acoustic monitoring with Wadawurrung man Max Deutscher. One site was along the Yarrowee River in Napoleons. The Wendouree Wetlands are a part of the larger Yarrowee River catchment. The Yarrowee River runs into the Barwon River, and the Barwon River runs into the ocean. This piece uses these field recordings and attempts to create the feeling of the water making its voyage from the wetlands all the way back to the ocean.
The Wendouree Wetlands are a part of the Yarrowee catchment. The name of this piece is 'Yaramlok'. The Wadawurrung name for the Yarrowee.
