“I wrote my piece for the Wetland project after learning about Yerr-ek, the adorable rakali / native otter or water rat population at Fairyland in Lake Wendouree.
I wanted the piece of music to replicate Yerr-ek through the Wadawurrung seasons, starting in the Waring/Wombat season which is when I began working on the music. Yerr Ek is the piano part that flows through the entire piece, and if you follow along maybe you can hear how the rest of instrumentation could represent the weather, creatures, and plant life associated with the seasons as the music progresses.”
